After qualifying as a Solicitor, Richard worked initially in London and Hamburg, specialising in company acquisitions and disposals. Moving to the West County in 1993, he became a founding partner of Over Taylor Biggs, later becoming OTB Eveling.
In his professional life, Richard enjoys nothing more than working closely with clients who are buying or selling businesses. The satisfaction, he believes, comes from earning the respect of his client as a trusted adviser and delivering a professional but personal service which develops a clear strategy for his clients.
He is also very experienced in areas such as finance arrangements, reorganisation of company share structure, shareholders’ agreements, employment incentives, governance and franchising and licensing agreements. Richard lives in Taunton and is a keen rugby supporter.
Suzanne is a consultant specialist employment solicitor focusing on the needs of an employer. Suzanne worked at Over Taylor Biggs, Exeter for just under 20 years prior to linking up recently with her former colleague, Richard Biggs, as a key member of our commercial team. Suzanne is one of the few lawyers who has both corporate and employment experience and is therefore very well versed in dealing with the employment issues which can crop up during a business sale or purchase. It is no secret that she is one of the very few lawyers who actually enjoys dealing with TUPE!
Suzanne’s aim is to get to know an employer’s business really well so that she is better able to resolve employment problems when they arise as well as being proactive in advising an employer on the documentation which it should have in place to protect its business interests which includes its confidential information, intellectual property and customer base. In addition, Suzanne has extensive experience in handling all areas of employment law including redundancies, settlement agreements, employment tribunal claims, disciplinary and grievance issues as well as advising on general internal HR issues for employers without an HR department. Suzanne is based in South Devon and in her spare time enjoys all equestrian pursuits.
